What could cause this abnormality?
Causes of pleural effusion:
- Para-pneumonic
- Primary or secondary lung tumour
- Mesothelioma
- Pulmonary embolus/infarction
- Pancreatitis
- Rheumatoid disease
- Congestive cardiac failure
- Renal Failure
- Liver Failure
- Hypoalbuminaemia
(These causes usually associated with bilateral pleural effusions)
